New kits for Darlington brigade

A Glencore Integra Underground Community Investment donation has enabled the Darlington RFS to improve its capacity to respond to emergencies.

Integra’s funding added two Millwaukee battery-powered toolkits to the Darlington inventory. The kits contain a drill, impact driver and grinder.

“It means that we won’t have to rely on our large rescue saw, which is what we’ve historically used to access roof and wall spaces on properties,” Darlington RFS member Jacob Caban said.

“These kits will allow all members to be able to remove sheets of tin from a property and replace the material once our work is done. “In short, it gives us greater diversity and better response times.” The grinder will be used where members cannot lift the heavy saw and will also allow access to sites where bolt cutters cannot be used on locked gates. The two kits will be stored on the Darlington Pumper and the Darlington Cat 1 appliances.
