Pollies Make a Splash at New Aquatic Centre

While the community have been enjoying the new facilities at Muswellbrook Aquatic Centre for a month now, the building was officially opened on the weekend.

The upgrades include a spa, sauna and the popular splash pad play area that is already proving a hit with the kids.

“Over the past few weeks many of you will have visited this fantastic new facility to test the waters, and I apologize for the pun,” Muswellbrook Shire Mayor Steve Reynolds said at the opening.

“It’s been a long wait and I trust that, like me and my family, you are delighted and excited by the heated pools, splash play area and other facilities.”

Cr Reynolds acknowledged the financial backing from the Federal and State Governments, Ridgelands Coal Resources, Mouth Arthur Coal and MACH Energy, which amassed some three million dollars to make the project possible.

State Member for Upper Hunter Dave Layzell, Muswellbrook Mayor Steve Reynolds and Federal Member for Hunter Dan Repcacholi made a splash at the official opening of Muswellbrook Aquatic Centre at the weekend.

He also commended the Council staff who have worked hard to make the project happen, despite delays in getting materials and certification to be able to open.

With school holidays just around the corner it is the perfect opportunity to head down and check out what all the fuss is about and for the next two weeks entry is free.

There is also special deals on memberships during September, so chat to staff about how to take advantage of those before time is up.
