Celebrating our Ladies

Singleton’s finest female golfing talents have played off for titles since the club first moved to Howe Park in 1927.

Therefore it would be remiss of us to name a handful of greats given the countless times we have seen Singleton’s young golfers blossom into mother figures and then settle as club matriarchs.

Many tales of past Ladies golfers were shared throughout the Singleton Golf Club’s centenary celebrations held from October 20-30.

June Shaddock and Margaret Worms pictured hard at work at the Singleton Historical Society and Museum on Tuesday, October 18. They unearthed a Singleton Golf Club trophy prior to the centenary.

The Ladies Invitational, held on Wednesday October 26, saw Jenny Delaney, Heather Orr and Royalie Sciani prevail in sunny conditions.

“We normally have a friend’s day each day but these ladies say that they are running out of friends,” Singleton Golf Club vice-captain Alison Wyatt said.

“We decided to make it an invitational three-person ambrose fun day with a $500 hole in one prize.”
