A long list of highlights at inaugural tournament

Newcastle Blasters’ medium pace bowler Isabella Bliss could not stop smiling this week after commencing her tournament with a memorable hat-trick.

The Warners Bay High School student proved pivotal in her side’s opening eight wicket victory against Hunter Valley with 3/3 off two overs.

Ultimately, she was one of 100 top junior cricketers to hone their craft at Singleton this week.

“First ball I got an LBW which was pretty plumb, quite full,” Bliss, 13, explained.

“Second ball was bowled on off stump and third was on leg side, all of them were quite full.”

Newcastle will finish the tournament by playing off against North Coast this morning at 10am.

“It would be very good to win the tournament.”

Thornton’s Monique Krake scored 51no as captain of the Hunter Valley in their clash against Greater Illawarra on Tuesday.
Murphy Hutchings (Mid North Coast) also found the Howe Park boundary on three occasions on Day 1 when scoring 30 off 44. She is pictured alongside coaches Michael Roohan and Adam Broderick.
Central Coast coach Veronica Brown urged her girls to keep hydrated after their opening win.
The Central Coast’s Zara Hepplewhite scored 24 runs off of 25 against the Mid North Coast at Howe Park. She landed three boundaries in the memorable win.
NSW Country teammates Clare Webber (North Coast coach) and Claire McGuirk (Northern Inland coach) reunited at Cook Park after last month’s under-19 national championships held in Perth.
Western duo Lillian Harrison and Karly Woods proved to be the side’s best with the ball and bat respectively against Greater Illawarra.
Greater Illawarra’s Ebony Winston (2/10), Cadence Waters (1/14) and Ella Yates (1/17) conquered Western with the ball at Cook Park 1.
It would not be a Singleton cricket tournament without a Howe Park lecture from local legend Mick Akrill as Zara Hetherington (Mid North Coast) and Amy The (Central Coast).
The Hunter Valley girls’ eyes have got that killer gleam.
Mid North Coast’s Lane Jordan also kick started her campaign with 3/8.
