Thrift to lead veterans’ cricket side

All eyes will be on Singleton’s Greg Thrift this Sunday.

The JPC legend will be leading the Hunter District side against the Newcastle Taverners in this round’s veterans clash to be held at Singleton’s Howe Park.

For Thrift, who has been a stalwart of Singleton cricket, the game will feature some familiar faces from the Over 50’s National Championships held in Adelaide last year.

“One of the boys Nathan Ryan was in the tier one side, he is an opening bowler that goes all right,” Thrift revealed.

Thrift proved to be a weapon with the bat in Adelaide when scoring totals of 49, 50no and 16 for the NSW Emus in a tournament where a batsman is required to retire at 50.

Thrift hopes to continue this form before a Singleton crowd this Sunday.
