Bathroom Upgrade for Singleton CWA

BY MEREDITH BLAIR

Singleton’s CWA Branch was one of three organisations to benefit from Singleton Council’s second round of Community Economic Development Funding (CEDF), receiving $78,831 to upgrade its bathroom facilities.

This comes a year after receiving $87,997 to upgrade kitchen amenities in its Pitt St Hall, where the association has been meeting since 1942.

Bronwyn Dunston is the President of the CWA’s Singleton Branch and a third generation member, having joined the association over 26 years ago.

Bronwyn said that she was ‘over the moon’ when she heard the news, explaining that following the approval of the kitchen funding, she wasn’t expecting the grant for the bathroom to also be supported.

“With this money, we’ll be able to do what should’ve been done years ago,” Bronwyn said.

As a part of the bathroom upgrades, the women’s and disabled toilets will be updated, also having the outside men’s toilet moved to inside the hall.

Bronwyn also wanted to acknowledge the hard work of Singleton CWA’s Grants Officer, Ruth Rogers, who prepared the association’s two successful grants applications.

The CWA ladies are not done however, with hopes to lodge a further application and make improvements to the hall’s exterior, replacing brickwork, gutters and windows.

“This money will be huge, we’ll have our hall here for future years, get more people in and keep supporting the Singleton community,” Bronwyn said.
