Bathurst experience for Gray

Setting up in the pits at Mount Panorama as the main series was a ‘pretty cool’ experience for Rylan Gray, who contested the Bathurst 6 Hour over Easter.

During his two hour-long stints, Gray found himself amongst some well-known names in motorsport such as Anton de Pasquale, Will Davidson, Grant Denyer and more. “You’re sort of just focused on just hitting your marks every lap and making sure you’re being nice to the car, getting in the car home, and just moving forward on the track,” he shared when asked if he knew who he was racing against.

The Century 21 Hazelbrook team were .9 one-thousandths of a second off winning their class, passed on the last corner before the chequered flag to have an outright position of 8th. “It was a good experience, we had a couple of car issues on Friday, which meant I got zero laps on Friday and then on Saturday I got seven laps, it was a bit different but we had a long time to get used to the car on the track in the six hour race,” he shared.

The following week Gray was back to New Zealand for the penultimate round of the Toyota Gazoo 86 Series, where he is maintaining his position as top rookie and sixth outright.
