Scone Artists’ Work on Exhibition

The depth of artistic talent in Scone will be showcased over the next week when a diverse range of work goes on exhibition.

The Scone Arts and Crafts Members Exhibition opens on May 5 to May 14 at the home of the most incredible local talent, 63 Kingdon Street, Scone.

The exhibition showcases local artwork including painting, pottery, spinning and weaving in addition to quilting and all items are for sale.

According to the organisation’s president, Joanne vanHeff, this is an opportunity to not only see original artwork but to also purchase something very special and unique.

“We run this event in conjunction with Scone Horse Festival and have done so for many decades and it is an opportunity to see and potentially purchase the work but also to inspire other artists to explore their talents,” Joanne said.

Last year saw the introduction of the inaugural Secondary School Art Prize and this year entries have significantly increased.

“We have been so impressed with the talent amongst the young artists in our community and we are thankful for the sponsorship of Belltrees Pastoral Company to be able to offer a financial prize.

“This year the theme, in line with the Horse Festival, is to feature horses in the work and we will have some of the entries on display,” Joanne said.

Entry is $2 and the exhibition officially opens at 6pm on Friday, May 5 and from Saturday, May 6 to 13, from 10am to 4pm and on Sunday, May 14, from 10am to 12.

Joanne sincerely hopes the exhibition inspires others and anyone wanting to know more information is welcome to call her on 6545 4192.
