Ceremony at the Memorial Gates

There was a surreal feeling of Remembrance as the sound of the bugle echoed across the Pokolbin hills.
Shortly after the Dawn Services held in Singleton, Broke, Greta, Branxton, Cessnock, Kearsley, Wollombi, Millfield and Paxton came to a close many across the region commuted to Pokolbin for the 7am service.
The crowds gathered around the Memorial Gates below the former Pokolbin Public School for the wine region’s standalone service.
Those in attendance then sipped on a complimentary malt wine, raising a glass to names of the Pokolbin servicemen forever etched on the memorial.
