Sproule and Heffernan impress Origin crowd

Singleton bull rider Cody Heffernan posted an Origin career high 88-point ride when competing in Newcastle last month.

The 33-year-old has been named as NSW captain for a second consecutive year and finished fifth overall in the first round of the PBR Australian Origin which was won by Queensland.

He ensured NSW fans in attendance had something to cheer about in a mammoth effort on Forever Young (MJ/Shultz Bucking Bulls).

Queenslander Macalie Leather was the top performer of the night with a 170.5 ride score while Singleton’s Trefor Sproule finished fourth overall with a ride score of 165.5.

The second round of the series will take place in Brisbane on Saturday, June 10.
