Bulls prepare for local rivals

BY ALEX TIGANI

Rugby Park will play host to two big clashes this Saturday.

Hunter Rugby Suburban outfits Singleton Bulls Black and Red will play host the Pokolbin Reds and Singleton Army Lions in match-ups which may reshape the table ahead of the June bye.

GAME 1 – Singleton Bulls Black (6th) vs Pokolbin Reds (5th) at 2:10pm

The afternoon will mark Pokolbin’s first match in Singleton since the Bulls last played in the divisional competition in 2014.

The Reds stormed up the ladder with a 3-1 record before suffering defeats to Griffins (14-10) and Singleton Bulls Red (47-13).

After a winless opening three rounds, Singleton Bulls Black have shown plenty of momentum.

The line-up denied Medowie from a Round 4 win (31-31 draw) before scalping an upset win over Singleton Bulls Red (17-12).

Last week they celebrated a 40-29 win over Singleton Army Lions.

Can they now make it a three-peat?

GAME 2 – Singleton Bulls Red (2nd) vs Singleton Army Lions (7th) at 3:20pm

Singleton Army celebrated a memorable 19-13 season opening victory against Medowie at Boyd Oval and have yet to claim another win since.

The Singleton Bulls Red, considered the higher tiered Singleton Bulls playing group, suffered a 17-12 defeat to Singleton Bulls Black in Round 6.

Therefore, there will be plenty to play for in this clash.
