Local Craft Highlighted at Denman

It started as a group of locals coming together to enjoy their hobbies, but Denman Craft Shop has become so much more.

“It’s more of a community, it’s just getting together and keeping people active and that sort of stuff plus working on our crafts, which is a dying art,” President Mary Cox shared.

Based in the Denman Visitor Information Centre, members working at the shop become engaged in a whole range of interesting conversations which is something they love.

There are so many local goodies for sale, from honey, pickles and jams to book bags, hair bows and knitted toys.

There is also handmade wooden toys and re-purposed items, with everything made by crafters in the Upper Hunter.

According to Mary they always get a bit busier around special days on the calendar, like mother’s day, and they change around their stock to match the occasion or season.

This year they have also started doing bake sales on the third Thursday of each month to help cover costs of operating, with any excess funds donated locally.

Denman Craft Shop is open from 10am to 3pm seven days a week and is located at 7 Ogilvie Street.
