Representative footy is in full swing for season 2023.

Each year the AFL Hunter Central Coast plays host to a women’s challenge representative tournament featuring the best of the best from Newcastle, Central Coast and Hunter Country areas.

After two narrow losses in 2022, the Hunter Country squad kick started their training a month early under the lights of Rutherford’s Max McMahon Oval.

Head coach Nadene McBride said she is pleased what she has seen from the squad which has been made up from the Muswellbrook Cats, Singleton Roosterettes, Maitland Saints, Cardiff Hawks and Lake Macquarie Dockers.

“I’m so proud of these girls and how far they have come in our first four training sessions,” McBride explained.

“We also want to thank the Maitland Saints for allowing us to use their venue for these training sessions.”

The squad was also presented training kits from sponsor Singleton Mazda to formally open the training program on Monday, May 8.
