Newest Museum for Oldest Collection Prepares to Open

The Denman and District Heritage Village Museum will host an eclectic collection of curiosities right here in the Upper Hunter.

Prior to the official opening next weekend, we got to have a look around with Jeff Wolfgang who owns much of the collection on display.

“My idea is to have a bit for everybody, from pioneer people that started off in this country with early equipment and right through the ages to see how it has progressed with different things, and there’s so much history, it’s never ending,” he shared when talking about how they have chosen what to display,” Jeff said.

The new Museum is located next to the current space at the Old Denman Football Grounds and was completed around two months ago when the relocation process began.

Displaying Jeff’s extensive collection of local history and other interesting pieces, as well as some other items on loan, has been his dream for some time.

“I’m pretty happy to see it all happen. I wouldn’t have gotten anywhere without the team of helpers, so willing and able,” Jeff said of the volunteers from both the Denman and District Heritage Village and Denman Men’s Shed who have been busy with the project.

The official opening will be on Friday, November 24, at 2pm, with opening times for the museum to be confirmed in coming weeks.
