Tiny House to go Under the Hammer
Singleton High’s famous Tiny House will go under the hammer onsite at the school on December 13.
Auctioneer Scott Bailey is offering his professional skills to the day with the school hoping to get top dollar for a project that has been 21 months in the making.
Singleton High is the first school in the State and probably Australia to take part in the initiative of the Regional Industry Educational Partnerships.
Each Wednesday Year 10 students with an interest in the construction industry have been on the tools constructing the the Tiny House. The 7.2m by 2.4m and 4.5m high house has been built in a covered area at the school that adjoins the D & T department.
Overseeing the project is D & T head teacher Jason Kolatchew who is grateful for the support from local businesses and tradespeople, particularly Dom Harrod Building, Actrol, Hunter Floor Trends, Danny Dwyer Plumbing, Invent air conditioning, Reece Plumbing, Mitre10 Singleton, Bunnings Singleton, Westal Windows, Tradelink, Integral glass splashbacks, Hunter Valley Glass, Morgan Engineering and Lear and Smith.
The auction will take place at 7:30pm under the new COLA in the school grounds in York Street, Singleton.
Interested bidders and the general public can inspect the Tiny House from 6pm.
The event will include food stalls and entertainment by music students.
Ten per cent of the proceeds will be donated to Singleton Neighbourhood Centre for its Open Door program.
