Spirit of Christmas Hits the Region

BY MEREDITH BLAIR

Scorching temperatures and light showers didn’t stop visitors from making the most of the annual Christmas on John St.

Over 7,000 people converged on the town centre last Friday night, filling John St which was alive with colour and the sounds of music.

Santa’s and his helpers were out and about, helping Singleton’s children write their letters to Santa, decorating baubles and cookies, making sure families got their photos with Santa and spreading Christmas cheer throughout the town.

Christmas on John provided an excellent opportunity for people to get their Christmas shopping done too with the Valley Markets offering unique gifts and retailers along the main street trading late.

The fireworks display, supported by Yancoal, was a highlight, closing out the night.
