Times Smashed at Country Regional Swim Meet

NSW Country Regionals was held over two days at Charlestown Swim Centre on January 20 and 21 with 52 clubs attending as far as Lower Blue Mountains to Port Macquarie.

The 546 athletes entered over 3000 entries for the weekend.

Eight children represented Singleton Amateur Swim Club over the competition, all coming home with personal best times.

Audrey Thompson smashed 9.99 seconds off her 50m breaststroke and Lillie McCarthy dropped a massive 9.73 seconds off her 100m breaststroke.

Club President Lea Scoular said it was great having squad coach Jane Robey there to support the kids, with some kids saying “I will swim faster if Jane is watching”.

SASC committee is always finding ways to improve the club and representing it the best we can.

By doing so, Lea volunteered as an official Chief Timekeeper for the Saturday’s session and Angela Thompson was assessed on the Sunday being ticked off as an accredited Timekeeper.

“We do it for the kids at the end of the day,” Lea said.
