It is More than Just the Game for Lady Cats

The Muswellbrook Ladies Cats, recipients of the Muswellbrook Shire Council Sporting Team of the Year, is more than just football according to Andrea White who captained the team in 2023.

“I think it goes to show that the Muswellbrook Cats are seen within the community for what we do not only on the field but off the field,” she said.

“I think the club is so much more than just what happens on the field, it’s about what we do within the community.”

The women’s team were a driving force behind many of the community fundraising activities, while also training and playing countless games to be proud of throughout the 2023 season.

Andrea is leading the charge once more getting a team together, hoping to be able to get most of last season’s players back on deck but knowing more will be needed.

“We will still definitely need a few fresh faces around and that’s what makes the club each year, it’s the people that come in and their different skills, different experiences,” she shared.

“I think it’s so amazing to be able to turn up to training with your child regardless of how old they are … and they’re able to just have a run around, and our training is so flexible to let you focus on what you need to do in the session but also go and attend to your kid if that’s what is required.”

Anyone wanting to get involved with the Muswellbrook Cats is encouraged to reach out to the club on Facebook, or visit them at training any Thursday evening from 6pm at Weeraman Fields.
