Singleton CWA Celebrates New Amenities

If you thought the Singleton CWA made a good scone, you should taste them now.

This week they officially opened their new amenities, an $87,000 upgrade to the kitchen and a $78,000 upgrade to the female toilets.

The former kitchen was so small that even if you wanted to, as they say, ‘swing a cat in it’, you would be hard pressed.

Less than a metre separated the sink from the bench space and if more than three people were working in the kitchen, you literally could not move.

As for the toilets, it is like moving from 1937 to the modern era and at the opening on February 22 much joy and appreciation was shared (for the record there was no swinging of cats!)

Emcee for the event and CWA member Ruth Rogers expressed gratitude to those who contributed to the upgrade; Glencore, Bloomfield Group, Singleton Council, AGL, NSW Government Seniors, Singleton Diggers and Singleton Op shop.

Ruth also thanked the builders, local firm Perram and Toohey.

In response builder Andrew Knox said it was wonderful to collaborate with a client who knew exactly what they wanted and needed.

Glencore’s Ashley McLeod said the CWA application for funding ticked all the boxes because it would benefit so many people.

Bloomfield’s Geoff Moore added that, given his mother was involved in the CWA in her time, he appreciated and valued all the work done by the organisation.
