The Muswellbrook and District Workers Club is excited to welcome to the fold new general manager Paul Cooper.
While he is new to the area, he is familiar with it, having previously worked for a chain that owned hotels in Scone, Weston, Mudgee and Casino.
“I’ve always looked after venues in regional areas, I just think they have that close connection with the local community,” he said.
Paul started last week and while speaking with him at the launch of the new book covering the Club’s history he shared how excited he is to get to know the locals.
“I actually enjoy coming out in the afternoons, because there are a lot of things from a regulatory and compliance point of view that do take you off the floor, but I like to get out of the office particularly in the afternoons and see who’s here and have a chat in general and I think they appreciate that as well,” he said.
On the subject of regulatory and compliance, something Paul has jumped on already is working to update a restriction on their liquor licence from 2008 that makes having entertainment at the venue difficult.
His hope is to be able to host tribute acts that interest their clientele, sportsman’s lunches and even stand-up comedy for the entertainment of members and their guests.
