It will come as no real surprise to those from her hometown in Denman, but Caoimhe Bray’s name has been rolling off the announcers’ tongue regularly once again as the Sydney Sixers WBBL 2025/26 campaign progresses.

When the Sixers took on the Sydney Thunder on November 15, Caoimhe lost track of her wickets between overs while bowling, and it took the ground announcers and her teammates pointing out she had taken a hat-trick.

“It was weird because it wasn’t in the one over, it was over the two overs,” the 16-year-old shared with a laugh.

“I forgot about it over time, it was crazy, the crowd announcer said it over the speaker and that’s how we realised.”

What followed was elated celebrations, with videos still being shared far and wide of the moment that has yet again made the cricket world sit up and take note of the teenager.

In the opening match for the 2025/26 competition against the Perth Scorchers, an impressive catch started the season off on a high for Caoimhe.

This is her second year with the Sixers, and while she admits to being a bit calmer on the pitch, Caoimhe still has some pinch herself moments of the journey she is on.

“Last year I was versing all these people who I just admired hugely, and I’d never met before, and I’d be like, oh my god, they’ve said my name, or I was a meter away from them, but this year it’s seeming a little bit normal and definitely getting a lot more used to it,” she shared.

“I’m definitely still fan-girling, don’t worry about that, but maybe just not as out loud compared to what I used to do.”

After a five-day break, that feels like two long between matches for Caoimhe, the coming weeks will be a cycle of team announcements and hopefully plane rides days apart to run out for her team as the season progresses.
