Two of the most anticipated games of cricket were abandoned last weekend.
A wash out at Branxton’s Miller Park prevented onlookers from seeing Singleton and Cessnock’s first grade grand final replays take place side by side.
Reigning Singleton premier PCH was set to play Valley while Cessnock’s recent drought breaking line-up Greta Branxton United was due to play inaugural Coalfields Cup winner Bellbird Workers.
This meant that the spotlight was cast on each association’s remaining three sides.
Mulbring celebrated a six-wicket victory against Wine Country and youngster Brandon Carman (38 runs) inspired JPC to victory against Glendon.
Singleton club Creeks had the final laugh when celebrating a 74-run-win against Piranhas at East End.
Former Creeks captain Gavin Wake looked lively with 38 runs while fellow premiership hero Warren Gillespie also added 23.
The future of Creeks also looked good as Daniel Tracey finished with 5/37.
