Show winners are grinners

Singleton couldn’t have its annual show but that’s not to say there weren’t some worthy winners.

The Hunter River Times did not want the event to pass by without some recognition and these local youngsters put their biscuit decorating skills to the test and came home big winners of our online competition.

Grace, Lucy and Toby Welch along with Aisha Tudor were presented with The Hunter River Times show sashes, certificates and $50 cash last week after they were named winners in the competition.

Northern Agricultural Association (NAA) Show president David Williams and show secretary Roslyn Shearer made the presentation with special thanks to the NAA Ladies Committee who sponsored the event in partnership with The Hunter River Times.

Mr Williams congratulated the four winners in each age group and said he looked forward to 2021 when Singleton Show would once again come to the fore.

In welcomed good news for the NAA, Singleton Showground was the recipient of 93 solar panels installed on the horticultural pavilion last week.

The panels were provided by AGL with the company providing two thirds of the cost of the installation with the remainder funded by the Federal Government.

“We were one of 31 organisations Australia wide to receive the panels which will go a long way towards reducing our power bill in coming years,” Mr Williams said.

“We thank AGL for their support and in particular, to a local person who works for AGL and made us aware of the opportunity,” he said.
