Junior representative thriller canned due to rain

The recent rainfall has also prevented the region’s junior talents at representative level.

After a disappointing opening round wash-out the Coalfields’ under-15 line-up impressive in their Central North Zone clash against Tamworth Gold on Sunday morning.

Singleton quartet Clancy Cameron (vice captain), Rywin Nock, Chris Almond and Damien Stafa were no strangers to the surrounds of Cook Park 1.

Almond claimed an early wicket and Nock landed two impressive catches in the opening passage of the morning.

Yet the highlight came at 11:28am when promising Cessnock junior Rees Gibson attempted a hat-trick.

“He almost got it to,” one excited parent declared.

Sadly, the rain would continue from midday and what looked like a comfortable run chase for the home side resulted in a draw.
