Lighting up the Upper Hunter

The countdown is on until the lighting of the Upper Hunter Shire Council community Christmas trees across the Shire.

Upper Hunter Shire Council will light up its four Christmas trees on Wednesday, December 1 in Aberdeen, Merriwa, Murrurundi and Scone.

Council General Manager Greg McDonald said he was looking forward to seeing the Christmas trees’ lights being turned on.

“This is a tradition that our residents look forward to each year and this years’ lighting will be spectacular,” he said.

“Residents may have noticed preparations being made at the sites in Aberdeen, Merriwa, Murrurundi and Scone.”

The trees will be located at the following locations.

Aberdeen: Rose Garden at Danger Park, 4 Segenhoe St

Merriwa: Cnr of Vennarcher and Golden Hwy St

Murrurundi: Memorial Rose Garden near Murrurundi RSL, 116 Mayne St

Scone: Scone administration building, 135 Liverpool St

Upper Hunter Shire Council will also be putting together a Christmas lights map of all addresses lighting up in the Shire.

The online map will made available on Wednesday, December 15 so residents can plan out which houses they would like to visit.

Those lighting up are urged to send their address to Council via communicationsteam@upperhunter.nsw.gov.au or via Facebook.
