Greta residents stand strong

Residents of Greta congregated around the main road on ANZAC Day for this year’s parade and service.
Those in attendance formed a human blockade so that passing vehicles would bypass the parade before the ceremony took place before countless locals formed around the rotunda for the service.
Prologues included the recessional, prayer of the thanksgiving, prayer for the queen (now king) and prayer for the nation.
A musical item from the students of Greta Public School was followed by commemorative addresses, the last post, ode to the fallen, one minute silence, wreath laying, rouse and the Australian national anthem.
Greta was home of one of Australia’s largest army camps from 1939 to 1949, before it served as a migrant camp until 1960.
