Motorcyclists Ready to Rally

BY DI SNEDDON

Singleton Showground will be home to top class classic motorcycles at the weekend when Singleton Classic Motorcycle Club hosts their annual rally.

Riders from far and wide will be in Singleton from Friday through to Sunday to take in the local roads as well as compete for a range of trophies recognising the vintage bikes.

Singleton Showground will be the base for the bikes and their riders.  On Friday the early comers will join Singleton members for a quick ride to Bulga Tavern but it is Saturday that is host to the main event.

Two rides are scheduled, 100km and 200km, with lunch back at the Showground.  Member Kerry Solman suggests anyone wanting to see the bikes should head up to the showground around 12noon where judging will take place.

The presentation will take place at Club Singleton on Saturday night with trophies for bikes made pre 1960 and for each year up until 1993.

Just last week the Club presented $1000 to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service and members joked that while they supported the rescue helicopter, they never wanted to use it.

Danny Eather, from the helicopter service, thanked the club for their ongoing support and said he was always humbled by the generosity of the community.

“Every bit helps keep the service in the air and I genuinely appreciate the support of people like yourselves,” Danny said.

Sharing the humility was members of the Club who have been overwhelmed by sponsorship for this years rally and want to thank the following:  Singleton Hi Fi, Auto One, Calie Hotel, Singleton Toyota, Bowers, Auto Pro, Big W, Morgan’s Engineering, Repco, Singleton Trailer, Caravan & Camping, Bunnings, Ace Tyres, Glenguin Estate, Adamthwaite Smash Repairs, Chapman and Slattery, Clifton Automotive, D & L Chainsaws, Shannon’s Insurance, Singleton Bike Shop, Smith Smash Repairs, Singleton Auto Wreckers, Singleton Outdoors.
