Have a Fantastic Feed at the Feddy

By Jason Bates

If you happen to be visiting the town of Branxton, then it would be worth your time to visit The Royal Federal Hotel. The Royal Federal Hotel was originally licensed in 1899 on another site. While the current building, located at 50 Maitland Street, Branxton dates back to 1927.

The Royal Federal is a hotel with a history spanning 125 years, but updated to modern standards, and is home to their award-winning bistro, The Feddy Kitchen & Smokehouse.

The Feddy Kitchen & Smokehouse is staffed by an amazing team of friendly and helpful staff and is open seven days a week, with lunch from 12pm to 2pm and dinner from 5:30pm till 8:30pm.

The Feddy offers indoor dining in the bistro with different rooms, including the Library where you can enjoy a quiet drink and read a book. Or maybe you would prefer outside dining on the balcony to soak up the atmosphere that is Branxton.

The menu of the Feddy is as impressive as the room you read it in, offering locally sourced steaks, in house made sauce and delicious smokehouse and pub fare. With their amazing bargain of desserts, $12 each or two for $20.

I visited the Feddy on the weekend with my partner and my parents, and we were treated to a most enjoyable meal.

To give you an idea of the menu our entrees were Garlic Bread made from Focaccia Bread spread with lashes of confit garlic butter and sea salt and Bruschetta made with fried sourdough infused with raw garlic, topped with a classic tomato and Spanish onion salsa, and finished with fresh basil and balsamic reduction.

Our mains were the Pork Belly, Seafood Basket with chips and salad, Pappardelle Pasta and a Brisket and Mac Wrap. It all tasted fantastic and there were definitely no complaints around the dinner table.

Best of all was the dessert, which was the Dessert of the week, the Caramel Sin Cup, a chocolate caramel cake that had a melted marshmallow on top that gave that sweet finishing touch to a beautiful dinner.

The Royal Federal Hotel has a large play equipment set up for the kids to keep them amused while you enjoy a refreshing beverage. There are raffles every Friday and live music every Saturday night. Meaning there is something for everyone to enjoy at the RFH.

The Bistro is located on the second floor, with stairs at the rear by the carpark to visit the Bistro without the need to go into the hotel. However, if you have mobility issues not to worry, the RFH even has its own elevator to the bistro showing part of that modern twist the hotel is offering. You wouldn’t have that in 1927.

If you don’t wanna miss out on a table, either call the Feddy and book or for your convenience go on the website and book your table online, simple as that.

So, if you find yourself in the peaceful town of Branxton, then come to the Royal Federal Hotel, and experience the unique dining experience of the Feddy Kitchen & Smokehouse.

Bon Appetit.
