The Wybong Hall Committee assured the community they would make sure the Wybong Mouse Races happened again, and they are delivering.
While it will look a bit different to last year, March 28 will be a great day out in the community according to committee secretary Judy Anshaw.
“It’s been really hard actually, because we’ve been stymied by the loss of the hall (the hall was destroyed by fire last year), but I think now that we’ve decided that we can make this happen, it’s looking really positive,” she shared.
“We’ll just forge on ahead in the same format basically as last year, but just in a smaller space at this point in time.
“We’re really hoping that everybody supports us and comes on out and has a great day.”
The layout will be a bit different, with marquees providing shelter throughout the day, but Judy anticipates the atmosphere will be the same.
There will be market stalls, food vendors including the Wybong Hall barbecue, kids entertainment and of course the mouse races.
“We were able to salvage the feet of the track, but the track itself was annihilated, and the Denman Men’s Shed have come on board again and built us another one in super quick time,” Judy said.
“We’ve got Sparkles for Clown entertaining us this year, she has informed us that there is a children’s mouse race competition so that could be very interesting for the kids to have some races of their own.”
Rock’N’Mash as well as Bob Brinkley will be entertaining throughout the day and into the night, which has been well supported by returning and new sponsors who have jumped on board the local event.
A new addition to the day is a Fashions on the Field, with prizes for the best dressed lady and gent thanks to Sherins Beauty Spot in Denman.
The Wybong Mouse Races are on Saturday March 28, gates open at 10am and the first race is at 10.30am.
It is at 420 Wybong PO Road, access via Yarraman Road, and entry is $10 for adults, $5 for kids, $25 for a family and kids under five are free.
