Rockin the Brook was an event designed to unite the Muswellbrook community and that is exactly what it did and more.

Mayor Steve Reynolds was still buzzing from adrenalin on Monday as he reflected on the town’s big night out with The Hunter River Times.

“There was such a warm, friendly feeling amongst the crowd with families on picnic rugs enjoying not only our local talent but the big names of James Blundell and James Reyne coming on later in the evening,” Cr Reynolds said.

“It was great to see kids kicking the footy around at the back while mums and dads were enjoying the music and atmosphere.

“It was all about building town pride and community working together and I think we achieved that.”

While the afternoon music was a sit back and relax atmosphere, the minute James Reyne stepped on stage around 9pm the crowd of some 4000 people erupted, moved close to the stage and danced.

Cr Reynolds said the popular Australian artist was surprised at the professionalism of the event organisation.

“James couldn’t believe this was our first event of this type and said everything was executed so perfectly,” a proud Cr Reynolds said as he complimented and thanked all involved.

He added that Muswellbrook Council would be doing it again in 2024 and hoped it would become a signature event on the calendar for the district.
