If you’re tired of the usual blokey banter and are looking for somewhere to connect with local men, The Men’s Table could be just the thing for you.
A ‘Table’ is a group of 10-12 men that meet together once a month over a meal. It’s casual and creates a unique environment for men to share openly about their lives, challenges, their highs and lows with a group of men who they come to know, like and trust. It becomes it’s own friendship circle.
There’s a structure to each meeting, with what The Men’s Table call “The Fundamentals” that underpin each Table and the organisation. Included are things like it’s confidential, no one dominates, each man gets to share uninterrupted, they ask that men commit to 9 out of 12 meetings a year, and there’s no ‘fixing’ involved.
It’s all geared towards providing a safe space where men can “go beyond banter” and share the highs and the lows of their lives, be ‘real’ and have better connections and conversations. It’s all about listening and sharing from the heart.
The Men’s Table creates a sense of belonging, community, peer support and camaraderie that is lacking for many men, even for some who already have a group of mates and contributes to mental, emotional and social well-being.
Another new Men’s Table is starting up in Muswellbrook with an Entree, or introductory event, happening on June 9th at the Muswellbrook Workers Club. Bookings are essential, details are below.
