Muswellbrook golfer Brady Benkovic had two reasons to smile on Sunday.

The four-time Muswellbrook Golf Club A-Grade champion added a maiden Scone Open title to his long list of achievements.

“In its 74th playing, the clear winner of the A. G. White Cup was Muswellbrook golfer Brady Benkovic who had four under par 68 to win the event for the first time,” Scone Golf Club’s Lyn Banks confirmed.

“Playing in the last group, Brady shot four under on the back nine to bring in the best score of the day.

“The runner up was local Wes Boyd who had one-under par 71.”

Benkovic’s final score also equalised the course record which was set by four-time Scone Club champion MacEwan Dawson.

“The event would not have been the success it was except for the assistance of many of the Scone volunteers who helped prepare the course along with the greens staff,” Banks concluded.

“On the day of play there were also Scone Golf Club helpers on the course and in the club administrating the event.

The Scone Golf Club will now host its Ladies Open Day in October.
