SHARE THE STORY:

Three to Contest Position of Singleton Mayor

Singleton voters have the opportunity to vote for their mayor for the next four years with three people contesting the position at the Local Government Elections on September 14.

First on the mayoral ballot paper is current Mayor Sue Moore.  Peree Watson is standing under a Labor banner and is number two on the ballot paper.  Dan Thompson is number three on the mayoral ballot paper.

All three are also standing for positions as councillors with Sue number eight on the councillor ballot paper, Peree and her Labor group of Patrick Thompson and Tim McGeachie number 1, 2 and 3 and Dan Thompson number 5.

Sue Moore has been on council for 25 years and says council must be planning beyond the bypass, local traffic issues, housing land supply, local jobs and quality lifestyle.

She says she will always work hard for the entire Singleton community.

Peree says she offers to be a fresh, strong, local voice for the region.  She says she is here to listen, turn up, and fight for opportunities for the Singleton and surrounding community to thrive looking forward.

Peree was the Labor candidate for Upper Hunter at the last State Government Election.

Dan Thompson is a current councillor and contested the position of Mayor at the last local government election.  He wants to continue to contribute to the bright future of the Singleton community, ensuring residents get their fair share.  Dan is a lifelong Singletonian, and says he is a true independent and has never been a member of a political party.

He says he has a history of caring, innovation and delivery.

Singleton Needs to Choose Nine from Twelve Candidates

Twelve people from the Singleton Local Government Area have put their name up for election to Singleton Council.  Only nine will be voted in.

Six former councillors have nominated again: Mel McLachlan, Dan Thompson, Sue George, Sue Moore, Godfrey Adamthwaite and Hollee Jenkins.

Newcomers seeking election are: Peree Watson with fellow Labor group members Patrick Thompson and Tim McGeachie.  Anne McGowan is running as an independent, Scott Yeomans is representing the Libertarian Party and Louise Stokes is running for the Greens.

Please see their own words on why they are all seeking election.
