It was a cracker of a season for the Singleton Netball Association who recently held the Grand Finals for their Lancaster Ford Singleton Netball Association Divisions 1, 3, 4 and GO.

“Our season was pretty good; we only had three or four washouts compared to a lot of other sports or netball associations who had six or seven,” Singleton Netball Association president Alex Bailey told The Hunter River Times.

“A lot of the competitions and ladders were quite close, and it did come down to the final couple of rounds to figure out who were in our finals.”

The Division 1 Grand Final saw Blisters take on the Sapphires with Blisters taking out the grand final.

“It was interesting with our senior members versing our U15 rep sides. It was a well fought game to the very end, which the Blisters did come in with the overall win by a little bit but it was nice to see the difference in our up-and-coming stars and our seniors.”

Divisions 3, 4 and GO were also well contested with the Vixens taking the win against the Stars in Division 3, the Wildflowers beating Starbursts in Division 4 and Venom winning against the Rainbow Diamonds in the GO Division.

“Our little GO Division are still learning the rules and play a modified game but watching their earlier games and then watching the grand finale, their skills have certainly improved.”

With the season finished, Singleton Netball Association are gearing up for their Twilight Competition which will run until just before Christmas.

“We hope to get a lot of teams, looking at divisions from GO, all the way up to Seniors and Mixed,” Alex said.

With all 12 courts back up and running and Netball NSW offering three-month and six-month memberships, Singleton Netball Association is hoping to get more people into their competitions.

The Netball Association are also looking at doing rep trials in October this year, so any interested players can keep any eye out on Facebook for any announcements.
