Around 500 people visited Rosemount Estate recently – but not for the wine it is so well known for.
The fields on the property just past Denman were planted with sunflowers and opened to the community a fortnight ago.
“We just thought we’d get people back out to Rosemount to have a look and bring a bit of life and a bit of color and a bit of activity back on site again,” Rosemount head of projects Aaron Brasher said.
“We probably sold two and a half thousand flowers on the day, we were selling them for one dollar a flower and that was the donation to the Denman Men’s Shed because these fellows did a fine job, and it was all about giving back to the community.”
While there is no final decision yet on what they will do with the donation, Denis Chandler from Denman Men Shed said they do have some ideas.
“One suggestion has been that we get a pizza oven, something to benefit all the community, otherwise we will have to sit down and have a bit of a yarn about it,” he shared.
Denman Men’s Shed have been busy doing repairs on things dropped in to the shed, as well as building bird boxes for local mines.
The blokes meet on Tuesday and Thursdays from 8.30am to around 1pm at the Old Denman Football Grounds.
