SINGLETON STUNS GRETA IN GROUP 21 THRILLER

As coach and player for Singleton in the Bengalla Hunter Valley Group 21 Rugby League competition, I’m thrilled about the massive shake up in Round 8.

On a picture-perfect Saturday afternoon, our team took on undefeated Greta at their home ground and handed them their first loss. The atmosphere was electric, with fans roaring as we fought hard and a last-minute try to Ryan Andrews secured the win.

This victory, right in Greta’s backyard, has blown the premiership race wide open at the season’s midpoint. The game not without its ups and downs with Singleton’s Ryan Andrew’s sin bin in the first half a difficult point for our team to overcome. Greta’s captain Tyler Carter also left the field for a HIA but later returned in the second half.

Across the competition, Denman showed their strength, overpowering Muswellbrook 26-10 to climb the ladder. Scone, who started the season slowly, are hitting their stride with a commanding 44-10 win over Aberdeen. The addition of former NRL star Adam Clydsdale has sparked the Thoroughbreds, and his experience is lifting the team toward contender status.

Scone’s momentum sets up an unmissable clash against Greta this weekend, promising another blockbuster and this weekend’s game of the round in my opinion. I’ve got no doubt both coaches Todd Edwards and Isaac Austin will have their teams firing on Sunday.

Round 8 showed why Group 21 is so special, every team brings heart and unpredictability.

To all our Group 21 supporters, I urge you to pack the stands this weekend as the finals race intensifies. The spot for first in Group 21 has the privilege of hosting the Major Semi Final which is a massive boost for a Country Rugby League Club. Your cheers drive us forward, so come rally behind your team!

Round 9 brings more excitement with Denman hosting Singleton on Saturday night and Muswellbrook facing Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon. The premiership road is heating up, and we’re ready to charge on!
