Gallery Opens Its Doors To All

The Muswellbrook Regional Art Centre is looking forward to reopening with a new exhibition that sheds a light on one of the regions most notable artists.

The life and art of Max Watters, as researched by 2020 Muswellbrook Artist in Residence Todd Fuller, will hang with pride from next week.

Todd spent time interviewing Muswellbrook locals and compiling Max’s life and story and the final exhibition of illustration and hand-drawn film is a celebration of Muswellbrook’s Max.

There are three exhibitions that will be opening to the public on October 16, they are Max Watters: Art Is, Max’s House: Todd Fuller and Alternate Perspective: Seeing the World in a Different Way – Muswellbrook High School.

One of the things Max was known for was encouraging everyone of any age to get involved with art, and he will no doubt be looking down with pride over an initiative run at Muswellbrook Regional Art Centre.

“Art Detectives gives children a little opportunity to look at the artwork a little further rather than just walking around doing nothing while their parents enjoy the displays.

“It’s always nice to have kids in the gallery, it makes it feel a bit more alive I think.”

Muswellbrook Regional Art Centre is on the corner of Bridge and Market Streets and is usually open from Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm.

The Gallery Café next door is open Monday to Saturday from 7.30am to 2.30pm and offers a full café menu with indoor and outdoor seating.

So let’s hope, by the time you are reading this, it is back open.  If not put it on your ‘to do’ list for when the covid chaos ends.
