Chess Set was ready to take out a prize

BY DI SNEDDON

The Farrelly family have been regular entrants in Singleton Show for many years so when they heard it wasn’t going ahead in 2020, they understood why but that’s not to say they weren’t a little sad.

Especially Samuel who had been working for weeks on a giant-sized chess set he planned to enter in the woodwork section.  His work hasn’t gone unappreciated however as the family enjoy playing the game with the newly made pieces on outdoor pavers.

It still would have been nice to take home a prize and this is something the children have enjoyed doing each year.

Last year little Ann took out Champion Children Floral Art with a fairy garden she had made.  Samuel won Champion Children Pot Plant and they are also regular winners in the cooking section.

Jam drops, iced biscuits and chocolate cakes are often entered by the family but it is the pikelets the entire household loves.

In the week leading up to last year’s show, young Joshua spent every morning practising his pikelet making technique with the aroma in the home from his kitchen creations enjoyed by all. They might even miss that more than the show itself but something tells us, Joshua will be encouraged to ‘practise’ despite the show not going ahead.
