Join the 42km Trek

The dynamic duo of Dayna Hynes and Jenn Saunders are at it again with another community fundraising event for Murrurundi.

This time around they are taking inspiration from The Bloody Long Walk and have curated the Timor to Nundle Trek that will take place on May 27.

“We thought we’ll do our own thing and we decided to walk from a point along Timor Road to Nundle just as something to do, that was about 42 kilometres,” Dayna shared of their adventures during lockdown when fun runs were not happening.

“Then thinking about it a few years later down the track, just sharing some fundraising ideas around the community and with a bit of a lead up into our push 48 event which we’re going to run in November, we decided on that.”

The route will be 48 kilometres and participants are able to do it at their own pace but if averaging 10 minutes per kilometre it will take around eight hours.

A combination of tar and dirt roads will face participants as they make their way over Crawney Pass.

“We’ve got a couple of vehicles that will traverse the road periodically throughout the day, they will have medical supplies and water and can pick up and drop off people, particularly if you’re doing it as a group,” Dayna explained.

“Some people have decided they might tackle 12 kilometres and then a person will take over for the next 12 kilometres in a relay.”

Participants will be raising money to go towards Murrurundi Pool.

Anyone wanting to take part or donate is encouraged to find Dayna Hynes on Facebook and send her a message, they have been posting in most local community pages about the event.
