The Singleton Roosters’ suffered a 10.8 (68) to 4.6 (30) defeat to the Maitland Saints on Saturday.

It marked the first time the Roosters had lost the Bryan Childs Shield memorial clash since its inception in 2015.

“We didn’t have many committed players like the case is this year and experienced some heavy losses, but Bryan was the player always putting his hand up for the team and the club to play, and enjoyed it no matter the result,” Singleton defender Sam Howard reflected.

Former Muswellbrook Cat Walter Pankhurst starred for the Saints with three early goals.

Both the sides will finish the season with a clash against top of the table Killarney Vale.
