A recent Muswellbrook South Public School P&F Fundraiser encouraged the community to explore their surroundings.
The first Southies Car Scavenger Hunt took participants out on the back roads to Scone, across to Merriwa and making countless stops along the way to find clues to the next destination.
“There are some families that are new to town, and some families like ourselves who have lived in the area all their life, but haven’t gone on some of those roads before,” one of the organisers Krystal Foot said.
Generally, the P&C hold a fete every second year as their major fundraiser, but with large portions of the school under construction they revisited the car scavenger hunt idea that was floated two years ago.
There were more than 30 cars that entered but they were not the only ones enjoying the event, with a family fun day set up at the Muswellbrook Showgrounds that included jumping castles, laser tag, face painting, pizza, and coffee.
All up an amazing $12,000 was raised that will be put towards projects around the school thanks to the support of countless local businesses who supported the raffle and of course everyone who took part.
“Our school is in the process of major building renovations happening so it will be a little bit, but it is our thoughts on a brand-new playground, and every bit helps,” Krystal said.
