The Rotary Club of Singleton was pleased to assist the Singleton Community Garden Group with the provision of a rest area at the Gardens located at Bathurst Street, Singleton.

The Garden Club’s vison is to have more community members involved and make the gardens a usable public space for people who share a common interest in gardening.

The Rotary Club has had its usual fundraising opportunities severely curtailed due to the pandemic, but were successful in applying for a $2,500 grant from Glencore on behalf of the Community Garden to fund the project. The work has been carried out by members of Rotary and the Singleton Community Garden Club.

The Rest Area is located in the olive grove area of the Gardens where a cement stabilised circular crusher dust pad was constructed and large sandstone blocks placed to provide the seating, with Glencore donating two large umbrellas to provide shade.

The spreading and trimming of the pad was undertaken by Jason Murphy with his excavator at no cost.
