Significant words and prayers were said and wreaths were laid at the Singleton Vietnams Remembrance Day Service.
The School of Infantry’s Major Daniel Lawrence addressed the crowd, commenting that the Battle of Long Tan, August 18, 1966, was one of the fiercest battles of the Vietnam War and while the Remembrance Day Service may not receive the same attention as Anzac Day, the sentiment was the same.
“We each have a reason to be here today and of the thousands of stories told on days like today, its about soldiers being given a job, getting it done,” Major Lawrence said.
“We are proud to be Australians,].”
