All eyes were on Mark Zahra at 3pm on Tuesday when he rode Gold Trip to Melbourne Cup glory at Flemmington.
However not even the 40-year-old could say that he rode three winners on Melbourne Cup Day.
That honour went to Singleton jockey Aaron Bullock who celebrated three wins at Skellatar Park on Tuesday afternoon.
Bullock warmed the crowd when guiding hot favourite Maruicette in the Muswellbrook Race Club’s opening Raine & Horne Muswellbrook Country Boosted Maiden Cup 1280M.
It marked his 600th career win.
He then made it a double for Scone trainer Paul Messarra as he celebrated the RMS Services 3YO Maiden Plate on Unravel.
As eyes turned to the big screen for the Melbourne Cup, won by trainers Ciaron Maher & David Eustace, it was time for Muswellbrook’s Race 5 (the TAB 3YO Maiden Plate 1000m).
This was also won by Maher and Eustace. Deputy Premier Paul Toole and Member for Upper Hunter Dave Layzell posed with the winning runner on their behalf.
Bullock then made it three wins with Zanzibar Gem in the Allweld Services
4YO Maiden Plate 1000m for Big Dance winning trainer Kris Lees.
He will ride for Lees again this afternoon at Kemspey.
