Australia’s biggest junior tournament will be held in our region this month.
More than 300 players from six different countries and every state and territory in Australia have registered to take part in the Jack Newton International.
The tournament will take place at the Singleton Golf Club, Cypress Lakes Golf and Country Club and Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley from Tuesday, September 27 to Friday, September 30.
The Singleton course will play host to the under-13 nine-hole event, Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley will cater for the 14-and-under participants while Cypress Lakes will be the home of Australia’s finest junior talents aged 15-17.
Popular Singleton golfer Taj Vesper will be competing at Cypress Lakes while rising star Eli Smith will put his practice to good use at Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley.
The well-known tournament was named after former Cessnock golfer Jack Newton who passed away in April this year.
“With the tournament being the first Jack Newton International Junior Classic since Jack’s passing earlier this year and also the first tournament back after a two-year Covid enforced lay-off, it promises to be the biggest and best International we’ve ever had,” Jack Newton Junior Golf General Manager Dale Hughes explained.
MEANWHILE the Singleton Golf Club is set to celebrate its centenary in October (Pages 32-33).
