Singleton Bulls legend Anthony Partridge admits 2022 has been a struggle for his club.

Yet on the eve of the Bulls’ final home clash against University the stalwart was still proud to congratulate a handful of teammates on reaching significant milestones.

“It has been one of the toughest years but we are really keen to finish with three grades on the field for two weeks in a row to give us some momentum going into 2023,” Partridge told The Hunter River Times.

After a long afternoon against powerhouse Hamilton, Pete Santarosa and Steve Laurence received their milestone caps and joined the previous 130 players to have played 100 club games.

Dean Cruickshanks also joined the selected few Bulls to play 250 club games while Partirdge became the second Bull, after Shane Thompson, to have played 250 first grade games.

“Locally, (John) Fats Halter had also played 250 first grade games at Wanderers which was a tremendous effort coming from Singleton,” Partridge explained.

“There might be a dozen in the history of the local comp, I might be wrong.

“I didn’t know until Mike Barrett club historian told us and Tim (Partridge) just says if you’re going to knock over 250 you may as well do it against the premiers so that is how it came to be.”

Another three Bulls players are in contention to celebrate milestones this Saturday.

Most notably, Alan Harris who has played 199 club games to date.

“In sporting feats in Singleton Al Harris probably goes down as one of the greats having won premierships in soccer, rugby and then rugby league,” Partridge concluded.

“Now he is still running around playing rugby and rugby league as a 50-year-old.”

Harris also coaches the Singleton Greyhounds’ Ladies League Tag team.
