The Singleton Public School team will head to Newcastle for regional finals this month.
The talented line-up went through this year’s Upper Hunter/Coalfields Rugby League Classic gala day held at Cessnock with an undefeated record.
Singleton Public came away with a convincing 36-0 win against Muswellbrook South which was an excellent start for the team.
They then came up against Bellbird in Round 2, who were a lot bigger than Muswellbrook but still played very well and came away with a 24-0 win.
The third game pitted the side against Singleton Heights which was a great game and after a tough first half the Singleton Public kids began to get on top and won 24-6 in the finish.
This brought them to the final against Scone who were state champions last year and had beaten Branxton 46-0 in the semi-final.
After conceding an early try, Singleton Public School bounced back and went into halftime trailing 6-4.
The Singleton based school knew they had the skills and fitness in the second half to get on top and scored three tries to one to come away with a nail-biting 22-12 win.
Each and every player played out of their skin and came away as deserved winners on the day. (Story supplied)
